The present work is likely a preliminary study for the altarpiece by Giovanni Battista Gaulli, Saint Anna and the Virgin Mary, in the chapel of Palluzzi Albertoni. The chapel is located in the 17th Century Baroque church of San Francesco a Ripa, in Rome.

Original sheet is tipped to larger support sheet, which itself is attached to a blue paper. Toning overall, particularly along the edges; minor foxing along all edges; one pinpoint hole to original sheet in upper center. Additional images available upon request.
